Sectoral Pressure
Financial and oil & gas stocks led the decline, with banking and energy counters witnessing sustained selling. Market breadth remained weak as most sectoral indices closed in the red, reflecting broad-based selling pressure across the board.

GIFT NIFTY Session
GIFT NIFTY closed at 23,712, down 87 points or 0.37% from the previous close of 23,799. The contract opened at 23,822 during the overnight session and marked an intraday high of 23,822 before sliding to a low of 23,680, tracking weakness in Indian cash market futures.
The contract traded in a tight range through the early Asian session before volatility picked up post 09:00 SGT. GIFT NIFTY witnessed sharp selling between 11:45 and 13:30 SGT, dropping from near 23,778 to a session low of 23,680 around 16:20 SGT as the Indian cash market extended losses. A mild recovery attempt in late afternoon trade lifted the contract back above 23,710, though it remained under pressure through the close at 18:09 SGT.
