GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 24,207 at 16:35 IST on July 02, barely changed from its Session I close of 24,199.5. The index gapped up a marginal 7.5 points or 0.03%, signalling subdued momentum heading into the evening session.

The near-flat opening came despite GIFT NIFTY trading 6.5 points below its previous day close of 24,257.5, down 0.03% on the day. The index had opened Session I at 24,127 and moved to a day high of 24,275.5 before settling into a narrow range ahead of Session II.

European Markets Trade Modestly Higher Mid-Session

European equity benchmarks were trading in positive territory by the time GIFT NIFTY reopened, providing a supportive but not compelling backdrop. The DAX Index was up 0.13% at 25,071.62, adding 31.34 points, while the CAC 40 Index rose 0.45% to 8,374.83, gaining 37.54 points, according to data available at mid-session.

The FTSE 100 and broader European indices were holding near recent levels, though specific intraday prices for the FTSE 100 were not available in market data at the time of Session II open. The Euro Stoxx 50 had closed the previous session at 6,282.50, down 0.72%, reflecting some caution in eurozone blue-chips heading into the new trading day.

European market capitalization data showed the FTSE 100 at $3.55 trillion, the CAC 40 at $2.79 trillion, and the DAX at $2.34 trillion, underscoring the scale of the region's equity markets as they set the tone for GIFT NIFTY's evening session.

Session II Opens in Tight Range

GIFT NIFTY traded between 24,203 and 24,214.5 in the opening five minutes of Session II, a narrow 11.5-point range that reflected the lack of fresh directional cues. The index last traded at 24,251 as of 19:10 IST, up 44 points from the Session II open but still fractionally below the previous day's close.

Session II will run until 02:45 AM IST on July 03, with European cash markets scheduled to close around 21:00-22:00 IST, which could bring further volatility depending on closing moves in London, Frankfurt, and Paris.
