GIFT NIFTY Reopens Session II Marginally Lower at 24,474 Amid Thin European Cues

GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 24,474 at 16:35 IST on July 6, gapping down 26 points or 0.11% from its Session I close of 24,500. The index slipped further in early Session II trade, with the opening candle printing a low of 24,460 before settling at 24,464.

The modest session gap reflects a cautious handover from the Indian cash market close. GIFT NIFTY is trading 44.5 points or 0.18% below its previous day close of 24,492, with the day's range spanning 24,307.5 to 24,512 across both sessions combined.

European Markets Offer Limited Direction

European indices were trading in positive territory during the mid-session window that typically influences GIFT NIFTY's Session II open, though concrete price data remains sparse. The FTSE 100 was up 0.47% at 10,729.11, having touched an intraday high of 10,732.52, according to available snapshots. The CAC 40 added 0.56% to 8,555.53, with an intraday peak at 8,560.95.

Germany's DAX was quoted at 25,879.30, up 0.32%, though the timing of this reading is unclear. The broader Euro Stoxx 50 closed 0.90% higher at 6,417 in what was described as a session of thinner trading, though the reference date for this close is ambiguous in the data stream.

The muted European gains — all major indices up less than 1% — have done little to lift sentiment in GIFT NIFTY's Session II open. With US markets closed for a holiday, trading volumes across global indices appear subdued, limiting directional conviction.
