European Markets Drive Session II Optimism
The Session II gap aligned with strength in European equity markets, which have been the primary global cue since India's cash market closed at 3:30 PM. The DAX traded at 25,124.17, up 0.48% or 121.13 points, while the CAC 40 advanced 0.77% or 62.50 points to 8,209.09. The FTSE 100 gained 0.33%, adding 34.56 points to reach 10,373.51 at its 4:35 PM GMT close.
Data from multiple sources showed the DAX hitting an intraday high of 25,362.83 and the CAC 40 touching 8,244.61. The Euro Stoxx 50, the region's blue-chip benchmark, declined 0.32% to 6,088.37 by mid-session, tempering the broader European advance. The divergence suggested sector-specific movements, with the pan-European index lagging Germany and France's main bourses.
Earlier European market data had shown the DAX at 24,932.91, down 191.26 points, and the CAC 40 at 8,180.75, down 28.34 points, indicating volatility during the first half of the European trading day. By the time GIFT NIFTY reopened, however, the indices had reversed those losses and moved into positive territory.
Session II Range and Outlook
GIFT NIFTY extended its gains in early Session II trade, climbing from the 23,467 open to 23,496.50 by 7:10 PM IST. The opening candle at 16:35 saw the index trade in a tight 31-point range between 23,446 and 23,477, closing the five-minute bar at 23,463. Subsequent candles showed buying interest, with the index pushing toward 23,500 levels. Session II runs until 2:45 AM IST, and European markets will close around 9-10 PM IST, which could bring further directional cues as liquidity shifts.
