European Markets Trade Mixed in Mid-Session

European bourses provided a mixed backdrop as GIFT NIFTY reopened, with major indices showing divergent momentum in afternoon trade. The DAX 40 declined 84.51 points or 0.34% to 24,830.98, while the CAC 40 slipped 39.05 points or 0.47% to 8,338.81, according to live market data.

The broader Euro Stoxx 50 index fell 52.74 points or 0.84% to 6,230.87 at its close at 18:00 GMT+2, reflecting weakness across Eurozone blue-chips. The FTSE 100 and other European indices showed marginal gains, with the composite European index data indicating mixed sectoral performance.

The divergence between German and French indices on one side and the broader European complex on the other suggested selective profit-taking rather than broad-based risk aversion. With European markets having traded for over three hours by the time GIFT NIFTY's Session II began, the directional cues remained ambiguous for Asian derivative markets.

Session II Range Establishes Early

GIFT NIFTY traded at 24,277 as of 19:10 IST, holding 2 points above the Session II open and maintaining the positive gap from Session I. The opening 10 minutes saw the index test 24,279 on the upside before dipping to 24,262.5, establishing an initial 16.5-point range.

Session II runs until 02:45 AM IST on July 21, with European markets set to close around 21:00-22:00 IST. Further directional moves in GIFT NIFTY could emerge as European cash markets conclude and overnight positioning develops ahead of Asian market opens.
