GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 22,632 on April 3, slipping 5.5 points or 0.02% from the Session I close of 22,637.5. The index opened virtually flat at 4:35 PM IST, reflecting subdued sentiment as European markets traded mixed through their mid-session phase.

The narrow gap between sessions masked a volatile day for GIFT NIFTY, which touched an intraday high of 22,910.5 during Session I before retreating. The index now trades 29.5 points or 0.13% above the previous day's close of 22,642.5, with the current last traded price at 22,672 as of 7:10 PM IST.

European Markets Show Divergent Trends

European equity markets presented a mixed picture as GIFT NIFTY entered Session II. London's FTSE 100 advanced 71.50 points or 0.69% to 10,436.29, providing the clearest positive cue from the region. The British benchmark's gains stood in contrast to weakness across continental European indices.

Germany's DAX slid 130.81 points or 0.56% to 23,168.08, while France's CAC 40 fell 18.88 points or 0.24% to 7,962.39. The divergence between the FTSE's advance and the declines in Frankfurt and Paris suggested sector-specific or regional factors at play rather than a unified European trend.

The Euro Stoxx 50, Europe's blue-chip index for the Eurozone, declined 39.85 points or 0.70% to 5,692.86 at its close on April 2. The index had opened at 5,672.13 after a previous close of 5,732.71, with an intraday range of 5,589.21 to 5,712.89. Year-to-date, the Euro Stoxx 50 showed a negative return of 1.70%, though it maintained a one-year gain of 14.97%.
