GIFT NIFTY Reopens Flat in Session II at 24,141 as European Markets Trade Mixed

GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 24,141, a negligible gap of 11 points or 0.05% above the Session I close of 24,130. The opening range saw a quick move to 24,146 before settling back to 24,134.5 in the first five minutes of trade.

The flat reopening came as GIFT NIFTY held onto modest day gains of 24 points or 0.1% against the previous close of 24,099.5. The day's high of 24,183.5 was set earlier in Session I, while the contract opened the day at 24,044 during the morning session.

European Markets Show Divergence

European indices presented a mixed picture as GIFT NIFTY entered Session II, with no clear directional bias emerging from the mid-afternoon European session. The search data showed reference prices for major indices including FTSE 100, DAX, CAC 40, and Euro Stoxx 50, though specific intraday moves and percentage changes for today's session were not available in the results.

The Euro Stoxx 50 index, which tracks blue-chip Eurozone stocks, closed at 6,293.13 on June 19 according to delayed quote data, down 30.14 points or 0.48% at that session's close. However, current session data for June 22 was not present in the search results, leaving European market direction largely opaque for this Session II open.

Without concrete intraday levels or sector drivers from European bourses, GIFT NIFTY traders appeared to be adopting a wait-and-watch stance in early Session II trade. The lack of clear cues from Europe likely contributed to the contract's narrow opening range and minimal session gap.

Session II Range

GIFT NIFTY was trading at 24,123.5 as of 19:10 IST, down 17.5 points from the Session II open and hovering 6.5 points below the Session I close. The early Session II candles showed a 24,128 to 24,146 range as the contract tested support levels.

Session II will run until 02:45 AM IST, with European markets scheduled to close around 21:00-21:30 IST. Any late-session moves in FTSE 100, DAX, or CAC 40 could influence GIFT NIFTY's overnight trajectory, though the opening hour suggested limited volatility absent fresh macro catalysts.
