GIFT NIFTY Reopens Flat at 24,213 in Session II as European Markets Trade Mixed

GIFT NIFTY opened Session II virtually unchanged at 24,213.0, a marginal 2.5-point gap from Session I close, as European indices showed divergent trends mid-session.

GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 24,213.0 at 16:35 IST on July 10, barely 2.5 points above the Session I close of 24,210.5. The negligible 0.01% gap reflected a steady handover between sessions, with the index trading 17.5 points or 0.07% above the previous day's close of 24,234.5.

The flat Session II start came as European markets traded without clear direction in mid-afternoon, offering little impetus for GIFT NIFTY after Indian cash market hours. The lack of a decisive European move kept the index range-bound in the opening minutes, with the first Session II candle trading between 24,197.5 and 24,213.0 before settling at 24,198.5.

European Markets Trade Mixed Mid-Session

European equity indices showed mixed performance in mid-afternoon trading, with no strong directional bias to guide GIFT NIFTY's Session II open. The search data indicated divergent trends across major European bourses, though specific intraday levels for FTSE 100, DAX 40, and CAC 40 were not available at the time of Session II opening.

The Euro Stoxx 50, Europe's blue-chip benchmark for the Eurozone, was quoted at 6,268.43 as of 10:35 AM GMT+2, down 15.84 points or 0.25%. This modest decline in the pan-European index suggested cautious sentiment during the European trading session, though the move was not pronounced enough to trigger a sharp reaction in GIFT NIFTY.

Earlier data from the search results showed the Euro Stoxx 50 had closed at 6,282 in a recent session with a 1.2% gain, while the STOXX Europe 600 advanced 0.8% to 640. However, current mid-session performance appeared more subdued, with the Euro Stoxx 50 trading slightly lower and European markets lacking the momentum seen in prior sessions.

GIFT NIFTY Trading Range

GIFT NIFTY was trading at 24,252.0 as of 19:09 IST, up 39.5 points from the Session II open and holding above the day's opening level of 24,099.5 from Session I. The day's range spanned 24,081.5 to 24,262.0 across both sessions, with Session II showing early stability after a choppy Session I close. European markets remain open until around 21:00-22:00 IST, and further directional cues from FTSE 100, DAX, and CAC 40 closing levels could shape GIFT NIFTY's trajectory through the remainder of Session II, which runs until 02:45 AM IST.
