The modest gap higher comes despite European indices trading in the red during their mid-session, with the Euro Stoxx 50 down 1.2% to 6,235 and the broader Stoxx Europe 600 off 0.5% to 636 as of European market hours.

European Markets Weigh on Session II Sentiment

European equities were trading lower during their mid-session as GIFT NIFTY reopened, providing a cautious backdrop for Session II trade. The Euro Stoxx 50 index, representing Eurozone blue-chips, closed Monday at 6,230.55, down 80.77 points (1.28%), and continued its weakness into Tuesday's session with a further 1.2% decline to 6,235 by European afternoon.

Technology shares led the decline in European markets, with ASML slipping 5.5% and Infineon losing 5.8% amid concerns weighing on the semiconductor sector. The broader Stoxx Europe 600 index showed relatively softer losses, down 0.5% to 636, suggesting the weakness was concentrated in specific sectors rather than broad-based selling.

Among the major European benchmarks, the FTSE 100 in London stood at 10,430.12 as of 09:28 GMT, up a marginal 1.27 points (0.01%), indicating mixed sentiment across the region. The DAX 40 in Frankfurt was quoted at 24,893.58, down 246.11 points (0.98%), while France's CAC 40 fell 59.40 points (0.71%) to 8,340.71 during European trading hours.
