GIFT NIFTY Opens Marginally Higher at 24,302.5 as Asian Markets Trade Mixed

GIFT NIFTY opened at 24,302.5 on Monday morning, up 30 points or 0.12% from its previous close of 24,308.5, tracking mixed cues from Asian markets where the Hang Seng Index surged 1.21% while Japan's Nikkei 225 edged lower.

The early session saw the index climb steadily from its opening level, hitting an intraday high of 24,361.5 in the first fifteen minutes of trading. After touching the session low of 24,283.0 just after the open, GIFT NIFTY recovered swiftly and was trading at 24,338.5 as of 09:15 IST, holding 30 points above Friday's close.

The flat-to-positive opening came as regional markets presented a mixed picture. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index jumped 310.97 points to 26,009.46, marking a 1.21% gain, while Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 200.43 points to 66,016.36, down 0.30%. The divergence in Asian equity performance reflected investor uncertainty heading into the new trading week.

India's domestic Nifty 50 Index opened at 24,252.00, up 20.15 points or 0.08%, tracking the modest gains in GIFT NIFTY futures. The BSE Sensex Index stood at 77,540.83, posting a stronger gain of 3.11%, while China's SSE Composite Index edged up 0.04% to 3,905.20.

Five-minute candle data showed GIFT NIFTY climbing from 24,303.0 at 09:00 IST to 24,340.0 by 09:10 IST, with the index touching its session peak of 24,361.5 in the opening minutes. The price action suggested early buying interest, though the gains remained modest with the index trading in a tight 78.5-point range.

Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index added 17.05 points to 5,688.96, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 23.00 points to 9,081.90, contributing to the cautiously positive mood across the Asia-Pacific region despite the weakness in Tokyo.

GIFT NIFTY is currently trading at 24,338.5, up 30 points from Friday's close, with the session high-low range spanning 24,283.0 to 24,361.5 as traders digest the mixed regional cues and await further direction from domestic market flows.
