GIFT NIFTY opened at 23,889.50 on Friday morning, marking a modest 16-point gain from the previous close of 23,873.50. The offshore index edged 0.07% higher in early trade as Asian markets opened broadly lower.

The opening level represented a muted start after the overnight session, which saw GIFT NIFTY begin trading at 23,791.00 in the pre-market hours. From that early base, the index climbed steadily through the first hour of trading, touching an intraday high of 23,919.50 by 09:15 IST. The session low of 23,840.50 marked a trading range of 79 points.

Five-minute candle data showed GIFT NIFTY grinding higher through the early session. The index opened the overnight window at 23,791.00 and advanced incrementally, reaching 23,827.50 by the first hour. Price action remained choppy through the pre-Indian market hours, with the index oscillating in a tight 23,813.50 to 23,829.50 band before the 09:15 IST cash market open.

At 09:15 IST, GIFT NIFTY was trading at 23,900.00, holding above the opening level and posting a 0.11% gain. The positive start came despite weakness across Asian bourses, where major indices retreated sharply.

The Hang Seng Index led regional declines, falling 322.07 points to close at 25,006.16, down 1.27%. The index opened at 25,230.58 and weakened throughout the session, hitting a low of 24,727.26. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 98.61 points to 8,364.41.

Japan's Nikkei 225 closed 306.29 points lower at 64,693.12, down 0.47% after testing an intraday high of 65,408.87. The Shanghai Composite bucked the trend, adding 4.91 points to finish at 4,098.64, up 0.12%.

The Indian cash market opened marginally lower, with the Nifty 50 trading at 23,907.15, down 0.03% in early minutes. GIFT NIFTY tracked slightly above the domestic benchmark as the session progressed.

GIFT NIFTY is currently trading at 23,900.00, holding near the upper end of its early session range. The index has maintained its opening gains despite the broader Asian selloff, trading 60 points above the overnight low and within striking distance of the 23,919.50 session peak.
