GIFT NIFTY opened at 22,801 on Tuesday morning, a marginal gain of 6 points or 0.03% from the previous close of 22,822, as traders navigated mixed signals from regional bourses ahead of the Indian cash market open.

The early session saw modest volatility, with the index briefly spiking to 22,885.5 in the first half-hour of trade before settling back. By the time Indian markets opened at 09:15 IST, GIFT NIFTY was trading at 22,828, holding near the opening level with a tight intraday range of just 28.5 points between the session high of 22,828 and low of 22,799.5.

Early Session Price Action

The opening minutes showed limited conviction in either direction. GIFT NIFTY drifted within a 12-point band in the first 10 minutes before gaining traction around 00:15, when it climbed to 22,835.5. The momentum accelerated sharply in the 00:25 candle, pushing the index to the session high of 22,885.5 as early buyers stepped in.

The gains proved short-lived. The index gave back nearly 40 points over the next 30 minutes, settling into a consolidation phase between 22,835 and 22,850 through the remainder of the pre-market session. As of 09:15 IST, GIFT NIFTY was trading at 22,828, up just 6 points from the previous close.

Asian Market Cues

Regional markets offered a mixed picture. The Nikkei 225 closed down 486.58 points or 0.73% at 65,877.62, weighing on sentiment across the region. In contrast, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained ground, rising 132.42 points or 0.54% to 24,642.51.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 edged up 14.70 points to 8,679.70, while China's SSE Composite Index fell sharply, down 64.75 points or 1.67% to 3,823.62. The divergence in regional performance left GIFT NIFTY caught between competing currents, contributing to the flat opening tone.

Indian Cash Market Open

The Nifty 50 opened lower, trading at 22,780.25, down 360.25 points from the previous close, according to regional market data. The BSE Sensex also opened in the red, falling 1,124.02 points to 72,771.72, reflecting the cautious sentiment that has kept GIFT NIFTY range-bound through the early session.
