GIFT NIFTY opened 181.50 points higher at 23,900.50 on Monday morning, a 0.76% premium to Friday's close of 23,764.50, as traders positioned ahead of the Indian cash market open. The contract touched an early high of 23,950.00 in the first fifteen minutes of trading before settling near 23,946.00 by 09:15 IST.

The early session showed consistent buying interest. After opening at 23,900.50, the contract climbed to 23,949.50 within the first five minutes, testing the psychological 24,000 mark. Price action remained firm through the 09:05 candle, which saw a brief dip to 23,922.50 before recovering to 23,938.00. Asian markets provided mixed cues through the morning session. The Hang Seng Index advanced 247.58 points to 24,963.23, a gain of 0.98%, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 81.61 points or 0.98% to 8,271.06. These gains in Hong Kong equities appeared to provide support for the positive opening in GIFT NIFTY, offsetting weakness elsewhere in the region.

The Shanghai Composite Index declined 1.61% to 3,814.20, reflecting caution among mainland Chinese investors. Japanese markets had closed sharply lower on Friday, with the Nikkei 225 sliding 1,811.45 points or 2.73% to 64,611.15 at the end of last week's trading. The divergence between Hong Kong's strength and Shanghai's weakness highlighted the uneven momentum across Asian bourses.

In India, the Nifty 50 Index opened at 23,767.45, down 0.43% from its previous close, according to early session data. The modest decline in the cash market contrasted with GIFT NIFTY's positive opening, suggesting traders in the offshore contract were taking a more optimistic view on the day's prospects.

The price action in GIFT NIFTY showed disciplined buying through the morning, with the contract never threatening to give back its opening gap. The consistent higher lows in the early 5-minute candles — from 23,916.00 in the first candle to 23,922.50 in the second and 23,935.00 in the third — suggested accumulation rather than speculative gap-chasing. The narrow trading range and steady climb pointed to underlying institutional interest supporting the overnight advance.

As of 09:15 IST, GIFT NIFTY was trading at 23,946.00, just four points below the session high and 45.50 points above the opening print. The contract has established firm support at the 23,900 level, with the early session range spanning from 23,900.50 to 23,950.00, a tight 0.21% band that reflected measured optimism rather than volatile swings as the Indian cash market began its trading day.
