Asian Markets Set Mixed Tone

Regional markets delivered conflicting signals ahead of the Indian open. The Hang Seng Index gained 0.86% to close at 25,398.18, supported by strength in Hong Kong-listed equities. The Nikkei 225 settled at 66,934.33, though the direction of the move was not specified in available data. The SSE Composite Index in Shanghai declined 0.27% to 4,057.74.

The divergence in Asian markets failed to provide clear direction for GIFT NIFTY, which tracked closer to the weakness in mainland China equities than the Hong Kong rally. Technical selling pressure emerged once the index breached the 23,350 level, accelerating the move toward the session low.

Nifty 50 Opens Weaker

The Nifty 50 Index opened 0.70% lower at 23,382.60 following GIFT NIFTY's lead, confirming the negative sentiment that built overnight in Singapore trading. The cash market decline mirrored the 116-point gap down seen in the derivative product, keeping pressure on domestic benchmarks as the morning session got underway.

GIFT NIFTY is currently trading at 23,297.5, down 144 points from Monday's close and roughly 103 points below the opening level. The index has carved out a morning range of 116 points between the 23,401 high and 23,285 low, with sellers maintaining control through the first hour of trade.
