GIFT NIFTY opened Tuesday's session at 23,021.5, down 92 points or 0.4% from the previous close of 23,045, tracking weakness in Hong Kong markets. The index touched a high of 23,027.0 in early trade before slipping to 22,950.5, establishing a 76.5-point opening range.

The contract drifted through the first hour of trading, holding near the 23,000 psychological level through most of the early session. After touching 23,050.5 around 00:45 IST, GIFT NIFTY reversed sharply, dropping below 23,000 by 01:00 IST and extending losses to 22,970.0 by 01:10 IST. Asian Markets Mixed

Regional markets showed divergent moves heading into the Indian market open. Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced 290.19 points or 0.55% to close at 53,413.68, extending gains from Monday's session. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong declined 177.47 points or 0.70% to settle at 25,116.53, trading in a range between 24,901.77 and 25,254.49.

The negative bias in Hong Kong appeared to weigh on GIFT NIFTY's early price action, offsetting the positive lead from Tokyo. European futures showed Germany's DAX down 0.56% at 23,168.08, while the CBOE Volatility Index rose 1.26% to 24.17, suggesting increased caution among global investors.

The early session weakness in GIFT NIFTY comes after the contract closed Monday at 23,045, with today's opening gap reflecting the overnight decline in Hong Kong and the broader risk-off tone emerging across Asian markets. The contract's inability to hold above 23,000 through the first 90 minutes of trading suggests limited buying interest at current levels.

GIFT NIFTY is currently trading 95 points below its opening level and 76.5 points above the session low, with the 22,950-23,050 range defining the early boundaries as traders await cues from the Indian cash market open and global developments through the day.
