GIFT NIFTY opened at 24,221 on Wednesday morning, marking a modest 0.09% gain from the previous close of 24,199. The contract strengthened through the early session, trading at 24,286 by 09:15 IST, representing an overall advance of 87 points or 0.36%.

The session opened cautiously in overnight trading, with the contract drifting between 24,176 and 24,191 during the first hour. Price action remained choppy through the early Asian hours, with the index oscillating in a narrow 15-point range. Buyers stepped in around the 01:00 IST mark, pushing the contract from 24,180 to 24,189, though momentum remained subdued heading into the Indian cash market open.

Asian Markets Display Mixed Sentiment

Japan's Nikkei 225 provided positive regional cues, advancing 228 points or 0.38% to 59,513. The index opened at 59,379 and climbed to an intraday high of 59,707 during the morning session. The Nikkei's gains offered modest support to GIFT NIFTY's upward drift.

Hong Kong markets moved in the opposite direction. The Hang Seng Index declined 197 points or 0.76% to close at 25,899. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 44 points, while broader regional sentiment remained fragmented.

India's BSE Sensex opened lower at 77,018, down 252 points from the previous session, according to regional market data. The divergence between GIFT NIFTY's modest gains and the Sensex's softer open reflected cautious positioning ahead of the cash market session.
