GIFT NIFTY Opens 0.4% Higher at 22,640 Tracking Nikkei's 1.3% Rally

GIFT NIFTY opened 82 points higher at 22,640 on Monday morning, extending gains into the 09:15 IST session as Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 1.3% while Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.7%.

GIFT NIFTY opened at 22,640 on Monday morning, up 82 points or 0.36% from Friday's close of 22,596.5, as the Singapore-traded index tracked a mixed session across Asian markets.

The contract pushed higher in early trade, touching an intraday high of 22,711.5 by 09:00 IST before settling back to 22,678.5 as the Indian cash market opened at 09:15 IST. The session low remains at the opening level of 22,640, suggesting firm buying interest at the gap-up price.

Early 5-minute candle data shows the index adding nearly 30 points in the first 15 minutes after the 09:00 IST candle opened at 22,679.5 and tagged the session peak. The next two candles saw modest consolidation, with the index oscillating in a narrow 14-point range between 22,674 and 22,688 through 09:10 IST.

Asian Markets Mixed on Monday

Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 1.26%, adding 660.22 points to reach 53,123.49, providing the primary bullish cue for regional risk sentiment. The Tokyo benchmark opened at 53,165.5 and extended Friday's close of 52,463.27, continuing its recovery trajectory.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index moved in the opposite direction, declining 0.70% or 177.50 points to 25,116.53. The index opened higher at 25,254.49 but gave up early gains to trade in a day range between 24,901.77 and 25,254.49.
