Asian Markets Mixed at Regional Open
Regional cues were mixed. The Hang Seng Index surged 425.56 points to 24,211.35, a 1.79% gain that provided positive momentum across the region. Japan's Nikkei 225 slipped 11.19 points to 69,030.92, down a fractional 0.02% in lackluster trade. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 55.70 points to reach 8,716.60.
The divergence between Hong Kong's strength and Tokyo's flat performance left GIFT NIFTY threading a middle path, opening modestly higher but avoiding the exuberance seen in Chinese equities.
