GIFT NIFTY opened at 23,651.0 on Friday morning, marginally lower by 14.5 points or 0.2% from Thursday's close of 23,665.5. The early session saw mild choppiness before the contract dipped to its current level of 23,625.5, down 40 points or 0.17%.

The opening mirrored divergent overnight action across Asia-Pacific markets. Japan's Nikkei 225 surged 1,879.73 points or 3.14% to close at 61,684.14, extending its recent rally. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index moved in the opposite direction, dropping 264.61 points or 1.03% to settle at 25,386.52. The Shanghai Composite fell 84.91 points or 2.04% to 4,077.28.

Early Session Price Action

GIFT NIFTY traded in a tight range during the first hour, oscillating between 23,540 and 23,558 through the opening minutes. The contract held mostly flat through 01:00 IST before a sharp uptick at 01:10 pushed the high to 23,590.0, marking the strongest move of the early session. That spike lifted the contract to 23,580.5 before settling back.

The session high of 23,699.0 and low of 23,613.0 reflect an 86-point intraday range. The contract has remained below its opening level for most of the morning, unable to sustain upward momentum despite the brief rally past 01:00 IST.

Indian Cash Market Opens

India's Nifty 50 Index opened near flat at 23,654.70, down a marginal 0.02% as the cash market began trading at 09:15 IST. The muted open tracked GIFT NIFTY's subdued tone and the mixed signals from regional peers.
