GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 23,292 on September 17, gapping down 73 points or 0.31% from the Session I close of 23,365. The opening marked a modest retreat despite firmer cues from European markets, which were trading in positive territory three hours into their trading day.

The gap lower contrasted with the day's overall trajectory. GIFT NIFTY stood 16.5 points or 0.07% above the previous day's close of 23,333, with the full-day range spanning 23,200 to 23,405 across both sessions. Session I had closed at its lows near 15:40 IST, setting up the negative gap into the evening session.

European Markets Trade Firmer Mid-Session

European indices provided a constructive backdrop for Session II, with the DAX 40 up 156.60 points or 0.61% at 25,558.88 and the CAC 40 advancing 50.31 points or 0.62% to 8,140.59 by mid-afternoon European time. The FTSE 100 gained 30.34 points or 0.28% to 10,688.47, while the Euro Stoxx 50 rose 30.00 points or 0.48% to 6,266.50 at the close of European trading.

The gains in Frankfurt and Paris outpaced London, suggesting broader eurozone strength. The DAX pushed above 25,550 and the CAC 40 climbed through 8,140, both extending recent momentum. The Euro Stoxx 50's half-percent advance reflected steady gains across major eurozone sectors, with the index tracking toward 6,270.

Sector-level details remained limited in available data, but the breadth of gains across the major bourses indicated broad-based buying interest. The FTSE MIB in Milan added 118.85 points, while Spain's IBEX 35 rose 80.00 points, reinforcing the positive tone across the continent.
