GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 23,916.5 on Monday evening, gapping down 60 points or 0.25% from the Session I close of 23,976.5. The opening 5-minute candle ranged between 23,910.0 and 23,937.0, settling at 23,929.5 as traders assessed mixed signals from European bourses.

The modest gap lower marked a reversal from Session I's late afternoon tone, which had seen the index hold near 23,980 through the final half-hour of trading. By early Session II action, GIFT NIFTY traded at 23,971.0, up 16.5 points or 0.07% from the previous day's close of 23,954.5. The day's cumulative range across both sessions stretched from 23,909.0 to 24,156.0, with the latter marking an intraday peak touched during morning trade.

European Markets Show Divergent Moves

European equities presented a mixed picture by mid-session, complicating the cues for GIFT NIFTY's evening trade. The Euro Stoxx 50 advanced 176.34 points or 2.96% to close at 6,136.66, according to delayed quotes from May 25. The CAC 40 in Paris stood at 8,258.26, up 142.51 points or 1.76% as of its May 25 close at 6:05 PM GMT+2.

London's FTSE 100 traded modestly higher with delayed data showing a gain of 54.69 points or 0.52%, while Germany's DAX showed mixed signals across different data feeds. The divergent moves among Europe's major bourses reflected ongoing uncertainty around macro drivers, with no clear directional catalyst emerging from the session.

Trade volumes across European indices remained within normal ranges, with the Euro Stoxx 50 seeing turnover of 5.85 billion euros and the FTSE 100 recording 3.50 billion euros in activity. The CAC 40's advance pushed the Paris benchmark above 8,200, while the broader Stoxx 600 hovered near the flatline after reaching recent highs in prior sessions.

GIFT NIFTY Session II Range

GIFT NIFTY's early Session II candles showed cautious trading, with the index oscillating in a 20-point band through the first 15 minutes. The 16:40 bar ranged from 23,917.5 to 23,929.5, while the 16:45 candle stretched between 23,918.0 and 23,932.5. Session II runs until 02:45 AM IST, with European markets set to close around 9:00-10:00 PM IST, potentially bringing fresh moves as liquidity thins.
