GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 23,898.5 at 16:35 IST on June 30, gapping down 50.5 points or 0.21% from the Session I close of 23,949. The opening candle saw the index test 23,890.5 before settling at 23,909, reflecting cautious sentiment as European markets traded mixed to lower in their mid-session window.

The gap down marked a reversal from Session I's late fade, which saw GIFT NIFTY drift from 23,965 at 15:25 to close at 23,949 by 15:35. Despite the negative open, the index remained 15 points or 0.06% above the previous day's close of 24,004.5, with the full-day range spanning from 23,895.5 to 24,052 across both sessions combined.

European Indices Trade Mixed as DAX Slides

European markets provided a mixed backdrop for GIFT NIFTY's Session II open, with Germany's DAX 40 leading losses while London's FTSE 100 held steady. The DAX traded at 24,671.22, down 323.61 points or 1.29%, marking the steepest decline among major European indices. France's CAC 40 slipped 46.74 points or 0.55% to 8,384.87, while the FTSE 100 edged down just 21.87 points or 0.21% to 10,508.02.

The Euro Stoxx 50, the broader Eurozone blue-chip benchmark, was not trading at the levels cited in older data snapshots, with fresh mid-session prices unavailable in the search results. The divergence between Frankfurt and London pointed to sector-specific pressure on German industrials and technology stocks, which weighed on the DAX more heavily than the FTSE's resource and financial-heavy composition.

Despite the European weakness, GIFT NIFTY found buying interest after the initial gap down. By 19:10 IST, the index had climbed to 24,019.5, recovering 121 points from the Session II open and crossing back above the previous day's close. The early Session II candles showed volatility, with the index swinging between 23,868 and 23,912.5 in the first 15 minutes of trade.

Index Level Change Change %
FTSE 100 10,508.02 -21.87 -0.21%
DAX 40 24,671.22 -323.61 -1.29%
CAC 40 8,384.87 -46.74 -0.55%

Session II Outlook

GIFT NIFTY is trading at 24,019.5 as of 19:10 IST, well above the Session II open of 23,898.5 and marginally above the previous day's close. European markets will close between 21:00 and 22:00 IST, which could shift the tone for the remaining hours of Session II through 02:45 AM IST on July 1.
