GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 23,294 on Monday evening, marking a gap down of 49.5 points or 0.21% from the Session I close of 23,343.5. The opening dip pushed the index briefly to an intraday low of 23,284 in the first five minutes before buyers stepped in, driving prices back above 23,300 within minutes of the restart.

The gap lower follows a modest 0.07% decline for the day versus Friday's close of 23,400, with GIFT NIFTY trading down 16 points at 23,384 as of 19:10 IST. Session I had opened at 23,502.5 at 6:30 AM, and the day's range so far spans 23,272 to 23,526 across both sessions combined.

European Markets Show Mixed Momentum at Mid-Session

European equity markets, which opened around 1:00 PM IST and have been trading for over three hours, presented a mixed picture as GIFT NIFTY resumed evening trade. Germany's DAX 40 stood at 25,575, up 1.07% or 270.95 points, continuing its climb toward recent highs above 26,600. France's CAC 40 advanced 0.92% to 8,138.94, adding 73.92 points on the session.

London's FTSE 100, however, lagged behind its continental peers. The index traded at 10,748.05, up just 0.08% or 9.04 points, underperforming the broader European rally. Reports earlier in the session had noted the FTSE opening higher while the DAX and CAC slipped lower, but the pattern reversed by mid-afternoon with Frankfurt and Paris outpacing London.

The Euro Stoxx 50, tracking 50 blue-chip stocks across the eurozone, rose 1.31% to 6,318.20 at the European close on Friday. The broader STOXX Europe 600 gained 1.0% to 642 in the same session, supported by easing energy prices after weekend geopolitical tensions failed to escalate further.

Session II Early Recovery Erases Opening Weakness

Despite the negative gap at 16:35, GIFT NIFTY quickly reversed course in the opening minutes of Session II. The index rallied 75 points from the opening candle low of 23,284 to reach 23,379 by 16:40, and extended gains to 23,407.5 by 16:45. As of the latest tick at 19:10 IST, GIFT NIFTY traded at 23,384, erasing most of the session gap and trading 40 points above the Session II open.

Session II runs until 02:45 AM IST on Tuesday, with European markets set to close around 9:30-10:00 PM IST. Further direction will depend on whether continental bourses sustain their current gains into the close and whether overnight US futures provide additional cues ahead of Tuesday's Wall Street open.
