GIFT NIFTY Opens Session II Lower

GIFT NIFTY reopened for Session II at 24,269 on Tuesday evening, gapping down 151 points or 0.62% from the Session I close of 24,420. The evening session opened sharply below the afternoon close, with the index dipping to 24,258 in early trading before steadying around 24,272.

The gap lower marked a reversal from Session I, which had closed near the day's highs after GIFT NIFTY climbed from a morning open of 24,075.50. Against the previous day's close of 24,239, the index was still marginally higher by 10 points or 0.04% at last trade of 24,249 as of 7:10 PM IST.

European Markets Drag on Session II Open

European markets were trading lower in mid-session as GIFT NIFTY reopened, weighing on sentiment. The FTSE 100 was down 74.27 points or 0.72% at 10,258.52 as of around 5:12 PM IST (11:12 AM GMT), according to delayed quotes. The index had fallen from Monday's close of 10,332.79, shedding nearly 80 points in afternoon trade.

Germany's DAX slipped 55.59 points or 0.23% to 23,962.67, while France's CAC 40 dropped 61.03 points or 0.75% to 8,043.06. The broader Euro Stoxx 50 was down 24.22 points or 0.41% at 5,836.10 at the European close on Monday, with Tuesday's intraday data showing continued weakness across major eurozone bourses.

The FTSE 250 underperformed its large-cap peer, falling 180.01 points or 0.80% to 22,399.42. Spain's IBEX 35 bucked the trend with a gain of 82 points to 17,774.90, while Italy's FTSE MIB added 366.33 points to 48,040.24, suggesting selective strength in southern European markets.
