The GIFT NIFTY session showed early weakness with prices dipping to 23,287 around midday before a sharp recovery rally pushed the index to a session peak of 23,396 in late trading. Volatility spiked during the afternoon hours, with the index swinging between 23,294 and 23,339 in choppy two-way action. The final hour saw renewed buying interest lift GIFT NIFTY back toward the 23,360 mark, erasing earlier losses.

The Nifty 50 remains well below its 52-week high of 26,373.20 reached in January 2026, trading roughly 11.8% off that peak. The index has held above the 23,182.55 annual low, with Friday's modest advance keeping the benchmark in a consolidation phase. Average volume on the Nifty 50 stands at 329,953 contracts, though Friday's session saw no reportable turnover on the main index.

GIFT NIFTY heads into Session II holding the 23,360 level, unchanged from the prior close and trading near the midpoint of Friday's range. The offshore index's ability to reclaim losses after midday weakness suggests tentative demand at lower levels, though conviction remains absent as the week winds down.
