Indian Market Closes Lower on FII Selling

Session Dynamics

GIFT Nifty tracked the domestic selloff closely, opening at 24,065 in the morning session before sliding to an intraday low of 23,989.50. The offshore derivative settled at 24,002.50, down 71.5 points or 0.3% from the previous close of 24,074. The session saw volatile swings with a brief spike to 24,145.50 during midday before sellers reasserted control in the final hours.

FII/DII Flows
Foreign investors extended their selling streak, dumping ₹3,062.30 crore in the cash market on July 14. Domestic institutions absorbed some of the supply, buying ₹2,171.70 crore worth of equities. On July 10, FIIs had been net buyers of ₹2,604 crore while DIIs purchased ₹2,020 crore, indicating a sharp reversal in foreign sentiment over the week.
