Sectoral Performance

Banking and IT stocks led the charge, with Nifty Bank advancing 474.95 points to 57,289.75, a gain of 0.78%. The Nifty IT index posted a stronger performance, climbing 326.60 points to 28,122.35. The Nifty Financial Services index saw modest gains amid the broader rally.

The Nifty Midcap Select index underperformed, shedding 124.70 points to 13,866.55. Among individual movers, ITC and Hindustan Unilever featured as top gainers. Tata Motors, Muthoot Finance, Eicher Motors, and InterGlobe Aviation were among the stocks making advances during the session.

GIFT NIFTY tracked the domestic market rally closely, opening at 23,795.00 and climbing to an intraday high of 24,047.00 during the mid-morning session. The contract last traded at 23,917.00, up 288.5 points or 1.22% from the previous close of 23,628.50.
