Institutional Flows

Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers in the cash segment, offloading ₹4,566.03 crore on June 9, according to NSE data. Domestic institutional investors provided support, buying ₹6,159.48 crore worth of equities on the same day, cushioning the selling pressure from overseas funds.

Earlier data from June 5 showed FIIs had sold ₹8,776.25 crore in the cash market segment, while DIIs bought ₹9,133.57 crore, reflecting sustained domestic appetite amid foreign outflows.

GIFT Nifty Session

GIFT Nifty closed at 23,211.0, up 26.5 points or 0.11% from the previous close of 23,184.5, largely tracking the positive momentum in the cash market. The derivative contract opened at 23,206.0 and rallied to an intraday high of 23,445.0 during the Indian cash market session before paring gains in the late afternoon.

The session saw early weakness with GIFT Nifty slipping to 23,101 in the overnight hours before recovering sharply during the Indian opening. The contract surged past 23,400 during the afternoon, tracking strong buying in select heavyweight stocks, before retreating in late trade as profit-booking emerged near session highs.

GIFT Nifty heads into the evening session trading 150 points below its intraday peak, positioned just above the 23,200 mark as overnight traders await fresh cues from global markets.
